<em><strong>neurodiversity<\/strong> <\/em>and <em><strong>neurodivergence<\/strong> <\/em>are increasingly used in workplaces, education and communities across society, yet confusion around these terms is common. Without clarity, we risk misunderstanding or unintentionally creating barriers for neurodivergent people.<\/p><p>Understanding these concepts is vital because society often creates unnecessary barriers. By increasing awareness, we can build more inclusive environments where everyone thrives.<\/p><h4>What do we mean by neurodiversity and neurodivergence?<\/h4><p><strong>Neurodiversity<\/strong> refers to the range of differences in the ways people perceive, process and interact with the world. Neurodiversity is a biological fact. Just as humanity is diverse in qualities like ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation, it is also neurologically diverse. This neurodiversity is a valuable and necessary part of a functioning society.<\/p><p><strong>Neurodivergence<\/strong> is a term that encompasses a range of neurological differences. It\u2019s common for people to have more than one of these differences, known as being multiply neurodivergent. A person does not need to have a diagnosis to identify as neurodivergent.<\/p><p>We should recognise neurodivergence as a natural variation.<\/p><h4>How can this film support change?<\/h4><p>This film aims to offer a clear, accessible explanation in just a few minutes.
