href=\"http:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/guidance\/cg128\/chapter\/1-recommendations\">]<\/a><\/strong><\/p><h2>Summary of Diagnostic Assessment<\/h2><p><strong>Assessment Report and Profile<\/strong><\/p><p>Compile a profile for the child or young person, covering the following topics:<\/p><ul><li>intellectual ability and learning style<\/li><li>academic skills<\/li><li>speech, language and communication+<\/li><li>fine and gross motor skills<\/li><li>adaptive behaviour (including self-help skills)<\/li><li>mental and emotional health (including self-esteem)<\/li><li>physical health and nutrition<\/li><li>sensory sensitivities<\/li><li>behaviour likely to affect day-to-day functioning and social participation<\/li><li>socialisation skills.<\/li><\/ul><p>Also compile a written report of the assessment, outlining reasons for the diagnosis.<\/p><h2>Post-Diagnosis Feedback<\/h2><p>Explain to parents\/carers (and, if appropriate, the child and young person:<\/p><ul><li>The reasons for the diagnosis<\/li><li>What autism is, and how it may affect the child or young person.<\/li><li>The contents of the profile<\/li><\/ul><p>Provide a written report of the assessment.<\/p><p>Provide information books, DVDs etc (available from ASDinfoWales website) on autism spectrum disorder.<\/p><p>Take parental consent to share information with GP and other appropriate professionals (e.g. education, social care).<\/p><h2>Information for parents\/carers<\/h2><p>Provide information on:<\/p><ul><li>Support available locally for the child\/young person and\/or their parents\/carers<\/li><li>Information to prepare for the future (e.g. transition to adult services)<\/li><\/ul><h2>Information Sharing<\/h2><p>With parental consent (and if appropriate, consent of the child\/young person), share the assessment report and profile with the GP and other appropriate professionals (e.g. education, social
