On 3rd December, we were proud to join the Welsh Parliament\u2019s Your Voice, Your Senedd event marking International Day of Disabled People. This year\u2019s global theme, \u201cFostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress\u201d<\/em>, resonates strongly with our mission to create neuroinclusive workplaces, where neurodivergent people can thrive.<\/p>

At the Senedd, our team showcased our work to Members of the Senedd, focusing on employment and the steps we\u2019re taking to equip both employers and employees with information and practical tools & strategies to help navigate the complexities of the workplace.<\/p>

Employment remains one of the most significant barriers for neurodivergent people. Challenges often begin at recruitment, where traditional processes can disadvantage neurodivergent candidates. Onboarding can also be confusing and overwhelming without tailored adaptations, and ongoing workplace structure and communication may not account for diverse processing styles. Executive functioning differences, such as managing time, prioritising tasks, and coping with change, can add further complexity. These barriers are not about capability; they are about environments and culture that fail to recognise and accommodate difference.<\/p>

That\u2019s why we\u2019re working with an advisory group to update our employment resources, ensuring they reflect best practice and lived experience. Our goal is to help employers create neuroaffirming and neuroinclusive workplaces – spaces where diversity is valued, adjustments are proactive, and neurodivergent employees can contribute their strengths without unnecessary obstacles.<\/p>

As part of this commitment, we\u2019re hosting a series of free webinars and training sessions. These include sessions on reasonable workplace adjustments, feedback and performance culture, and managers\u2019 training in the new year. We\u2019ll also be sharing recordings of our popular ND in the Workplace for HR Practitioners sessions. Keep an eye on our website and social media for dates and registration links.<\/p>

For employers looking to deepen their understanding, our e-learning resources provide practical guidance on neurodivergence and inclusion. These tools are designed to help organisations move beyond compliance towards genuine cultural change – because inclusion isn\u2019t just about policies, it\u2019s about people.<\/p>

International Day of Disabled People is a reminder that progress requires partnership. Together, we can dismantle barriers, challenge assumptions, and build workplaces where neurodivergent talent is not only welcomed but celebrated.<\/p>
