Reasonable Workplace Adjustments for Neurodivergent People

Social Model of Disability

This session is led by a neurodivergent professional who has spent years discovering the practical adjustments that make working within Welsh Government more accessible and sustainable.

It offers clear insight into how Reasonable and Workplace Adjustments can remove barriers for a wide range of people, while encouraging open, human conversations about disability and individual support needs. The aim is simple: to normalise adjustments as standard good practice.
The Social Model of Disability was created by disabled people from their own lived experiences; it aims to help everyone recognise and remove the barriers that make life harder for disabled people.

The training session will last 41 mins and will cover the Equality Act, Reasonable Adjustments, The Social Model of Disability and the Medical Model of Disability and Terminology.

Outcome

By the end of this session, viewers will have a clearer, more confident understanding of what Reasonable Adjustments look like in practicenot just theory.

Participants will be better equipped to identify barriers in their own settings, hold constructive conversations about individual needs and take at least one tangible action to improve accessibility.

The session supports a shift in workplace mindset positioning adjustments as everyday good practice that benefit everyone, individuals, teams and organisational culture as a whole.

Outcome

By the end of this session, participants will have a clear understanding of the Social Model of Disability and how it differs from the Medical Model, increased confidence in using appropriate and respectful terminology, and a practical grasp of the Equality Act and reasonable adjustments.

Viewers will be better equipped to identify and remove barriers, apply inclusive practice in their role, and support disabled people to thrive through thoughtful, personalised adaptations.
