The Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) uses personal information to enable us to carry out services in respect of the National Autism Team. The service provides support and guidance to help improve the lives of autistic people, their families and carers across Wales. We take the privacy of your information very seriously and this policy explains how we collect, use and dispose of your information and how we keep it secure.
How and what data is collected:
AutismWales.org collects data in the following ways:
- Via our ‘Contact us’ form
- Completion of various certification schemes across the website
- When you create a user account
- Information added to your personal interactive tools such as:
- CV Builder
- Personal Profile Builder
- Employment Workbook
The personal data processed as part of these services includes:
- Names
- Organisation
- Addresses
- Email Addresses
- Dates of Birth
- Online user details, including information held within website accounts
This information is provided to us directly from individuals.
The UK’s third generation of data protection law replaces the Data Protection Act 1998. The Data Protection Act 2018 accepts the standards and obligations set by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and, where GDPR allows, makes specific provisions relevant to the UK.
How your information is used:
We will use personal information provided only for purposes consistent with the reason it was provided to WLGA. All information is retained in line with WLGA’s Data retention policies.

Where is your data held:
- Data is held on a server that resides behind a dedicated Cisco ASA5505 firewall with McAfee anti-virus in a UKAS ISO27001:2013 accredited environment.
- These databases are maintained, and your data will be deleted after an 8 year period.
Your rights:
With regards to your stored data your rights include the following:
- Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
- Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
- Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your information in certain circumstances.
- Your right to object to processing – You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.
