Supporting Families

What are these resources?

A series of one-page, topic-based resources, combining questions and links to further resources on the Neurodivergence Wales website.

Who are they for?

Anyone working with families who might need information and resources about neurodivergence. Family-facing professionals working with parents/carers and families, either on a one-to-one basis or in group sessions (eg families first projects, flying start, family centres, family support teams, support workers, early help teams).

How do I use them?

They can be used with individuals during home visits or direct working or as a way to guide peer support parent/carer groups (for example local support groups or parenting groups). Use the discussion points to guide the conversation, and then click on the images, which will take you to the relevant resources on the NW website.

Some ideas

  • Watch a webinar as a group, pausing it at regular intervals to discuss the topics raised as a group
  • Run a series of topic-based workshops (eg Session 1 – Sleep, Session 2 – Sensory, Session 3 – Toileting, etc) using the sheets as guides.
  • Go through a topic sheet when working with a parent one-to-one, using the discussion points to guide the conversation and highlight individual resources.

If you have any suggestions for further session sheets, please use the feedback form at the bottom of the page.
